The Unit Gothic series was released by Hamilton Manufacturing Co. in 1907. This sans serif family features one of the first multi width/weight type 'systems', anticipating the Univers font system by 50 years. This set of 7 fonts was designed to aid in press room efficiency and its incremental variation in widths gave poster printers unprecedented flexibility in fitting copy while using consistently harmonious fonts.

This HWT release is the first ever digital version of these fonts. Each font contains 600 glyphs including Greek and Cyrillic character sets as well as alternate characters which are based on the actual special character production patterns from the Hamilton Wood Type Museum collection.

Hello all,

I was developing this blackletter display typeface. Struggling with a complex drawing for the first time.
Need some feedback.
Thanks

I'm looking to identify both of the fonts used on these cards. One is a script, the other is Gothic. I realize that these might be hand calligraphy, but if anyone could point me to reasonable look-a-like fonts, I'd be thriled!

Thank you!!

Please help me identify this modern gothic calligraphic font (found in the comic book "Lillim"). It looks like I've seen it before many a time but I cannot remember its name. I guess it must be popular if it's used in a recent comic book. This is the sample compiled of several screenshots ( Sorry for the small size, I tried to enlarge the pictures but the font is distorted then)

Hey everyone,

I need some help identifying this sans-serif font.

I once knew the name to this font, something with "Gothic" at the end of the name ;-) … and no, it's not Trade Gothic Gothic Extended.

Two hints:
– I remember that this is a font that does not feature any lowercase letters, only uppercase.
– the watch-manufacturers from "wempe" are using an adapted version of this font: http://www.wempe.de/ – the problem is, they call it "wempe gothic", so this doesnt solve the problem.

Thanks a lot for the help you guys!

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to identify this Gothic font.
It was found in Tschichold's Master Typographer.

Thanks very much

The Power of the Engine

Victorian revivals and inspirations often seize on the period’s tendency toward florid decoration. However, the times were also the final surge of the industrial revolution, a time that witnessed the ultimate development in steam, diesel and oil: engines of all kinds. Engine Nine captures the nitty-gritty of a hard-boned indomitable age, boundless in its faith in the technologies of iron and steel, tempered by half-remembered neo-classical details such as the verticality of neo-gothic windows, and finely detailed finials. It’s all here in the brute strength of the verticals, the blackness of the tight setting, the contrasting delicacy of the terminal serifs.

Is the MR PORTER typeface Engravers Gothic, Bitstream?
I'm wondering what weight it is, and if it's Small Caps, All Caps, or lowercase.
Link to site here: http://www.mrporter.com/

I'm trying to identify the typeface used in this masthead. It looks like H&FJ's knockout, but the tail on the R has a different terminal.

Thanks!
Michael

I'm talking about Hunyad / Hunedoara Castle in Hundedoara, Romania. Information about the castle: in English; in German (more detailed).

We're looking for appropriate typefaces to be used for display purposes in a branding project. "Appropriate" could mean inspired from that era / matches certain motifs from the buildings / etc.

The second release from astroluxtype, Dragon Fang, is a single weight headline display font. The style suggests Medieval font forms but in a contemporary sense. The font contains uppercase and lowercase letterforms which include a few alternate characters, look for the swash "B" and "D" to give your design project a special look. Influenced by everything from Rick Griffin and Linotext to tribal tattoo art this font will bring a contemporary edge to your design projects. Fantasy book cover art to that goth album cover you should find many uses for astroluxtype's Dragon Fang. Available Now at Myfonts.com Link: http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/astrolux/dragon-fang/

Greater Albion Typefounders has just released it's latest family on Myfonts and Fontspring. Wolverhampton is a new Neo-Victorian face from Greater Albion Typefounders. It's something of an example of starting with a small idea and running with it. This family of three typefaces (Regular, Small Capitals and Capitals) was inspired by a line of lettering seen on a late 19th Century enamel advertisement made by Chromo of Wolverhampton (hence the family name). The family grew, topsy-like, from a recreation of these initial fifteen capital letterforms to the three complete typefaces offered here.

I saw this specimen of Gothic Light Face and I'd like try my hand at (re)constructing the lowercase, I'm aware that many of these early gothics didn't have a lowercase counterpart, however, looking at the [[http://www.utexas.edu/cofa/rrk/specimen.php?type=Gothic&sub=Lineal&specname[]=Gothic%20Light%20Face&specname[]=Gothic%20Special&specn

Hey everyone, I'm kinda at a last resort here. I've used font analysis survey to find font based on serif, non-serif, closed, open, fixed width, etc. I even emailed chevy themselves and all I got back was a "sorry, but we don't know, try googling it" response. I know I've seen fonts similar, especially w/the wider stroke on the left side of the letters, but couldn't find it in my library. Does anyone know the name of the font or even a direction to point me in. Any help with this is greatly appreciated, and I thank you all ahead of time for your time and consideration in helping me.

WoodType

What is the attached font?

It's from the letterpress lab at the university of oregon. It is 15 pica sans serif. It is not labeled, and it bares no foundry stamp or company insignia. It is most likely older than 1965, and could be as old as 1900.

It only exists in caps, although there are a few varying figures. (two types of A's, etc.) I tried to pick the figures with a similar grain pattern, the thought being that they would be of the same shipment of type.

It is possible that this font has not been digitized, but any help you guys can offer would be amazing!

I thought this was DIN at first, but notice the parallel terminals on the S and the spur on the G.
It also doesn't seem to be Franklin or Trade Gothic.
I'm stumped. Can anyone solve this one?

Thanks!

This one is going on a business card for a distributor, anyone have a guess? No luck with WhatTheFont or IdentiFont. It's the lowercase 'm' that makes me think it's German somehow?

I'm looking for a web font that will closely match Trade Gothic, specifically the condensed, bold condensed, and bold no. 2 styles.

I know that Franklin Gothic is available as a web font, and Trade Gothic is also available as a web font from Monotype under a subscription, but any other recommendations from TypeKit, Webtype, etc. would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Jim
