Why do you want to make a conversion?

I would like to convert some truetype files to opentype as well.
I cannot open the .pfm and .pfb files on a Mac. (Using FontExplorerX)

If you wish to use fonts you've previously licensed on a new platform I would contact the foundry from whom you licensed them. Some foundries might be willing to transfer the license to use on a new platform.

You can convert the Type1 font (PFM/PFB) using TransType.
There is no need to convert a TrueType font to work on Mac OS X.

The typefaces i want to convert are mine.
In addition, i can't make an arabic opentype font,so i make it truetype.

Ah, ok. They are your own designs. Well then I guess you don't need to talk to the foundry. ;^)

.pfm and .pfb are PostScript typefiles for Windows. The only Win-fontfiles OS X can't handle.
Use TransType to convert.

Do you have any idea whether the SE version of Transtype will do the job, or is the Pro version needed?
It is quite a pricey program.

You may first try pfb2otf, remembering that this is freestuff. You need the pfa files and you need them to be in the same folder as the pfb files else you lose kerning.

I just added pfb2ttf if you need a ttf and not an otf font.

[edit] You could also just use directly FontForge.

The latest version of CR8type: http://www.cr8software.net/type.html
can convert TrueType to OpenType, and is comparatively inexpensive.

I've posted an entry on my personal blog talking about this scripts. Can be found here it`s a translation of this thread to spanish.

I am glad that this little script for batch processing serves. And if you don't have the afm files, you can always use FontForge and in "File > Merge Feature Info" select the pfm file to get the desired kerning before generating your font.

And then there's CrossFont for us Wintel sods.
